DIY Success Thanks to Val

Six years ago, I had a radon problem and zero knowledge of the necessary mitigation steps. Val coached me through the process from soup to nuts. I ended up with an effective system made up of high-quality components that seem superior to the professionally installed systems elsewhere in the neighborhood.

The system is 4 inch PVC running from the basement floor up through two stories and across an unfinished attic to a chimney box that was not in use and then out to the wild blue yonder. The fan is a RadonAway 145. Radon levels have been reduced from 5-7 pCi/L to 0.45-0.69 pCi/L. Those readings have been steady over the years.

I am grateful to Val for his guidance. When the fan wears out I will be back to him for a replacement.
